What is the capacity of the aircraft?

Our Clubhouse is configured for only 92 passengers ensuring business-class legroom for every passenger. We have "Super 27" engines and auxiliary fuel tanks, both of which extend the range of the aircraft, providing non-stop travel to destinations up to five hours away. Our plane is operated and maintained by professional flight and ground crews. Routine inspections by aviation officials have generated comments that our Boeing 727-200 maintenance level far exceeds that of commercial airlines and is second only to Air Force One, the airliner that serves the President of the United States. In addition to the Captain, First Officer, Flight Engineer and Trip Directors, trained Flight Attendants are on board every trip.

How many trips are offered per year?

The club schedules approximately 50 trips per year to a variety of destinations. Naturally everyone can't go on every trip so reservations are made on a random selection basis provided a timely reservation is received. Popular trips repeated as required.

As a passenger on a Nomads flight, you are representative of the entire membership. Proper travel attire is defined as a clean neat shirt and slacks (including cleaned, pressed jeans) with or without a jacket for men and similar attire for women. Bermuda walking shorts are also acceptable. Work clothes, bathing suits, tank or halter tops, muscle shirts, exercise attire (such as sweat suits or spandex tights, leotard and bike shorts) and shorts and skirts shorter than three inches above the middle of the knee are not considered proper for any flight.

Are Trip Directors tour guides?

No, the trip director is responsible for the administrative management of the trip. When needed, local guides are contracted at the destination. Since Nomads members have a wide variety of interests, the club strongly encourages advance research by the member and individual pursuit of activities at most destinations.

Are optional tours offered on each trip?

While some trips are structured and have all tours included, other trips are looser and offer several optional tours. This will be clearly defined for each trip in The Nomad. Information about optional tours is provided in your Trip Documents Package, which is sent prior to trip departure.

I'm traveling alone. Do I have to pay more if I want my own room?

On most trips, the club offers single, double and triple pricing. Occasionally, a quad price is offered. Naturally, the price of a hotel room is more per person if only one person occupies the room. However, we do offer a roommate matching opportunity. While we cannot guarantee a match, we will try to find a gender and smoking specific roommate. As an added benefit, most trips have a representative from the Nomads Solos . The first night of the trip, a get-together is usually planned for single travelers to meet and mingle.

What does the trip price include?

In addition to the air travel charges, all hotel accommodations, roundtrip transfers, hotel and airport taxes, all porter charges at hotel and airport, and the services of skilled Trip Directors and guides as needed, are generally included. Any and all exceptions are noted in the trip proposal published in The Nomad. Often, additional items are included please study the magazine to see which additional items are included for the trip in which you are interested.

In addition, members enjoy free airport parking at our own World Terminal, plus in-flight and destination camaraderie.

How is the club financed?

The club is financed by the sale of memberships and payment of annual dues. Trip specific charges are borne by the members who participate on those trips. Memberships are non-assessable, and there is no liability on the part of the members other than annual dues. In compliance with FAA licensing regulations, each person traveling on the “Flying Clubhouse” MUST be a member.

What is the cost to join Nomads?

Annual dues, billed by calendar year, defray the club’s administration expenses. Effective January 1, 2009, the dues are $192 per year, per adult member. New member dues are calculated on a pro-rated basis of $16 per month.

The seats are leather, with 36” of pitch (coach class is about 27” of pitch on most airlines) arranged with 2 on each side of a wide center aisle. Upgraded service and hot meals are a feature of all flights when flight time permits.

Destination services continue in “Club Class” quality with excellent accommodations, tours, and the services of a Trip Director for traveling members.
